TUESDAY: STAY FOCUSED

We awake and it's Tuesday, often called “Busy Tuesday.”  This day is met in scripture much like the reflective image we see in the Tuesday's of our own lives. When His housecleaning clears away the clutter and He opens up space, in our schedules and in our hearts, then we hunger to fill that receptive space with knowledge of Him. The knowledge of His truth and the teachings He provides. This is where the disciples were. Matthew even devotes over four chapters to the sermons of Jesus given on Tuesday. This is one of the places we really get to know Jesus' very nature.

As we read, we find Jesus and the disciples back in the Temple and then to the Mount of Olives. They pass the withered fig tree on the way to the Temple and Jesus taught them about faith.

If we pray with faith, we can move mountains. “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” (Mark 10:27)

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24)

Tuesday afternoon Jesus left the city and went with His disciples to the Mount of Olives, which overlooks Jerusalem due east of the Temple. Here Jesus gave the Olivet Discourse (found in Matthew 24:1–25:46), a prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the age. He also talked about His second coming and the final judgment.

Even though He knew that He was destined to die - Jesus was thinking about everyone but himself. What selfless, wondrous love is this, that Jesus would spend his last hours offering his loving forgiveness to those were in the process of orchestrating his murder!

Tuesday, is full of teaching, bringing to life the scriptures, and deeper revelation of heart of Christ for those He came to save. It was day that focused on the present and for the yet to come:

“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”

Jesus’ discourse about the end times focuses the attention of the disciples on preparedness, on readiness to suffer, and on trust. We clean out - we focus our hearts and we open our space for Him.

Knowing You, Jesus
There is NO better thing
You're my all, You're the best
... and I love You Lord
